MIRANDA
PILLAY is a senior lecturer in the Department of Religion
and Theology at UWC. She obtained the degree M. Phil.
cum laude from the University of Port Elizabeth in 1999.
The focus of her doctoral research is "Ecclesial
responses to HIV and Aids in SA". Her teaching portfolio
includes New Testament Studies and Ethics. Miranda does
pastoral and spiritual counselling on campus and the wider
community, specifically on religious and spiritual challenges
presented by HIV and Aids and issues around gender power

RETHIE
VAN NIEKERK has a BA and BD from Stellenbosch University
and is currently working on an MTh. She is a full time
minister at Dutch Reformed Church in Summerstrand. Speaker

EUGENE
MALAN grew up in the northern suburb of Cape Town,
Panorama. He studied BA and Theology at the University
of Stellenbosch and started his ministry in Cradock where
he served for 4 years before moving to Port Elizabeth
where he has been in the ministry at the DRC PE - Hoogland
congregation for almost seven years. His family is his
passion and he enjoys outdoor adventure, camping, handwork,
photography and pottery. He has been married for 15 years
to Louise, a Clinical Psychologist and they have two children.

ABIGAIL
TUKULU
Abigail Tukulu is a retired teacher and psychologist who
has dedicated her entire life to improving the lives of
women. She is the international Mothers' Union general
trustee. She ensures that the organisation runs smoothly
and that it meets the needs of people and specifically

ETHEL
SCHULTZ PITTAWAY
Ethel Schultz Pittaway started studying gender issues
and the effects of inequality on the church, home and
society in 2000. She has presented numerous workshops
and talks on Great Africans in the Bible, Women in the
Bible, Biblical Portrait of Marriage and Biblical Equality.
She is the National Co-ordinator of Christians for Biblical
Equality and chairperson of the Gender Reconciliation
Association which she founded in 2004. She is passionate
about educating and encouraging men and women to become
friends, partners and leaders together and to use their
God-given gifts in the church, home and society. She has
been married to Michael for 32 years and they have 2 children
and 1 grandson. |
