The
transformation of an old rough railway sleeper into a beautiful piece of furniture
could be compared to the transformation of a rough diamond into a sparkling
piece of jewellery.
It is this very process of transformation that makes sleeperwood furniture so unique. Sleeperwood was taken from age-old hardwood trees, such as the Rhodesian Teak and Lebombo Ironwood tree. The wood was chosen for its durability as it had to endure many decades of harsh treatment supporting the railway tracks.
Due to the fact that railway lines now use concrete and iron sleepers, wooden sleepers are becoming increasingly scarce and valuable. This in turn makes sleeperwood furniture a genuine investment because the exotic wood will no longer be available for furniture manufacturing once these sleepers have been exhausted.
The recycling of these railway sleepers into sought-after and unique furniture also benefits the environment as it reduces the cutting down of trees.
An item of railwood furniture will give you much enjoyment, and add beauty, quality and an unmistakable feel of Africa in your home, entertainment area or office.
